The Browns first met Paddington at a railway station, Paddington Station. He had come from darkest Peru with only a jar of marmalade, a suitcase and his hat. When the Browns took him home they soon found that Paddington was a very unusual bear.
Michael Bond was born in Newbury, Berkshire in 1926 and educated at Presentation College, Reading. He served in the Royal Air Force and the British Army before working as a cameraman for BBC TV for 19 years. In 1997, he was awarded an OBE for his services to children's literature.

저자(글) Michael Bond

영국 버크셔 뉴버리에서 태어났다. 1947년부터 1966년까지 영국 런던 BBC 방송국 TV 카메라맨으로 일했다. 1958년 처음 쓰기 시작한 패딩턴 이야기는 곧 전 세계 어린이들의 사랑을 한몸에 받게 되었다. 《내 이름은 패딩턴》은 북스 앤 북맨이 뽑은 ‘올해의 가장 훌륭한 어린이 책’으로 선정되었으며, 마이클 본드는 1997년 아동문학에 기여한 공로로 영국 여왕으로부터 훈장을 받았다.

앨리는 어린이 책을 직접 쓰고 그리는 다재다능한 작가이다. 현재는 로드아일랜드의 배링턴에서 아내와 아이들과 함께 살며 책을 쓰고 있다. 그린 책으로는 『슬플 때도 있는 거야』,『화가 나는 건 당연해!』 등이 있다.
