그리고 젠의 시간과 함께 사이사이에 경찰관 라이언의 시간은 비교적 느리게 과거로 거슬러가는 형식.
스릴러 사건에서 계속 더 이전의 과거로 타임슬롯을 반복하는 것이 독창적이었으며 챕터가 끝날 무렵에 "짠~~"하고 터트려주는 작가님 덕분에 드라마로 제작하기에 참 좋겠다 싶었는데 소니 픽처스에서 벌써 계약을 했다고 한다.
육아에 약하다고 질책하던 변호사 엄마 젠이 과거로 가면서 남편과 아버지의 몰랐던 모습들도 많이 알게 되고, 아들과의 관계도 회복이 되는 놀라운 소설이다.
